Zackery J Bennett - Artisan
I have been trained as an antique restorer in Auckland by 'William Cottrell Antique Restoration' where I received extensive training in carving, veneer work, turning, french polishing, metal work and traditional cabinetmaking.
From this educational foundation it has allowed me to apply my knowledge of craftsmanship to different mediums. Mediums that I utilise are wood, stone, silver and shell, with my emphasis on hand tools, for their natural appeal, texture and lustre. I enjoy the simplicity of well flowing beautiful form, and the complexity of contemporary design and detailing.
Inspiration comes from ocean, nature, movement and emotion. By combining these aspects it creates an intriguing form. The sculptures have developed through dimension, direction, and the limitations of materials through out my career.
